Congratulations to Wayne & Dannielle!

Yet another wedding! On 31st October this year Wayne Costelloe and Dannielle Brice exchanged vows and walked the big walk. It was held at Gymea and a gathering of approximately 50 were there to witness the two younglings become adults. I'll be posting all my photo's online soon (when I move onto a new ISP in a few days time) but I have a few pics for now as a teaser.

Just a word of warning to anyone thinking of inviting Owen J Kelly to their wedding. Avoid mud cake as your choice of wedding cake. What he does with it is simply disgusting!

It's Not Over Yet

Just when you thought the commotion of a wedding is behind you another surprise is announced. Wayne (my brother for those not in the know) is to get married on the 31st October 2005 to Dannielle. Seems the bug has bitten these two and that they must now tie the knot as well!

They'll be at an advantage over Yutang and I as we went into the whole wedding thing with no big plan. But it got me to thinking. Why must there be a plan? They announced that there'll be a rehersal. I declined to turn up to this on principle alone. A wedding is not something that must be "to plan". The event itself is the plan. The mistakes and mishaps are sometimes what makes up the experience. Surely though you need a rough guide as to what will occur on the day. But to plan who makes a speech, who drives who where, who even SITS where? Well I can't say our wedding was without faults. If I was to do another one I'd make sure that some people are nominated as drivers. I'd also get someone to be prepared to make a speech. But I wouldn't do a "rehersal". Sounds too contrived.

The bottom line is that the wedding itself has become too traditionalised. I think that the wedding is just the process you need to go through to announce your commitment and vows to your partner and that your marriage mustn't be overshadowed by "the wedding".

Yet More Wedding Photo's

I promise I'll stop writing about the wedding soon. But there are still pics to go online and I'm still getting over the whole event. Going back to work so soon after festivities is a real reality check but I'm fighting through it. There are still folks out there with some photo's that we need to contact. I'm going to be putting a VCD together to hand out to those who attended with a run down on the day. Also a honeymoon VCD to go with it to fill you all in on how the trip went. So those of you who are bored of hearing about Weddings and Lovey Dove stuff... just tune out till further notice!

Honeymoon Pics Now Online

The Honeymoon is all but a great memory now. It wasn't without it's drama's though with the Gold Coast weather turning on us in a bad way. Coolangatta airport was closed for the first time in approx 30 years due to intense flooding. We had to land in Brisbane as an alternative destination. Upon landing the chaos continued with lost confused passengers panicking as they looked for the ferrying coaches to take us to the Gold Coast. I decided that we weren't going to be a part of that crap and got into a hire car with my friends at Europcar. After a scary 1 hour drive in extreme deluge we made it to the Gold Coast. Finally after finding out that the Hotel had changed it's name since the reservation was made we were able to relax again... AND SLEEP! We were dead tired as we were up partying till late with the wedding party.

Hope you like the pics... we had fun taking them anyway!

Honeymoon Pics Coming Soon

Well we got back from the Gold Coast on Sunday night after experiencing a pretty hectic but fun honeymoon in the rain and floods! Seriously it was all OK after the rain stopped but it was a battle getting there with Cooloongatta Airport closing for the first time in 30 years due to flooding.

I'm making this a quick entry. There are photo's galore to post. 200 honeymoon pics were taken. But you'll just get to see the clean ones!  Also Wayne and Dannielle have handed their shots in to scan. Once I've gotten around to scanning/ catergorising and dating them all I'll be posting them up on this here site!

Wedding!

Just a quick entry as I am so so tired right now. I have a flight to catch in a few hours time with next to no chance of getting any real sleep! Yutang and myself are finally married! It happened today with a small gathering of close friends. We exchanged vows in Sydney and had a great meal in Woolahra with a great drinking session to end procedings in Kogarah. Take a look at the photo's and remember that there'll be more pics to come. All those who have photo's don't be shy! Send them on in. We want them all up here if possible!

From Yutang and myself we'd like to say thank you and look forward to seeing you all as Mr and Mrs Costelloe in the not too distant future!

The Wedding List

With so many people wanting to be invited to the wedding it was always going to be tough deciding on who should receive the inevitable invites. So the list below is not meant to be a list of who's in and who's out. Simply put, these folks are people we feel would be a big part of our collective lives. We have only a budget for a wedding with 13 or so guests. Anymore than that and we start to look at bankruptcy!

Wedding Guest List:

Carolyn Costelloe

Christopher Costelloe

Wayne Costelloe

Dannielle Brice

Rob Spit

Owen Kelly

Kang Wang

Namiko Suzuki

Tim Chen

Gilbert Diab

Jing

David Richardson

David Lang

The wedding will be at the Sydney Registry at Chippendale. A reception lunch will follow at the Pruniers Restaraunt Bar in Woollahra (Edgecliff). We'll wrap things up with "nibblies" at our home in Kogarah. So there it is. The plan for the day. Anyone with any questions then please message me or phone. Hope to see you there!

Wedding Update

Today we went shopping for the wedding outfits. I managed to snap up a wedding suit for the big day but Yutang failed to find something that is... her. So the search continues for the brides outfit. Also today the date has been finalised. We will now get hitched at 10:00am 29th June, 2005 at the Registry in Chippendale. The only thing left to do now is organise a reception lunch. So far it's been a case of trying to get in touch with the restaraunt. But I'll keep you up to date once any venue has been set. All invites will be sent soon but only once the details are set.

Wedding Plans

I've been getting everyone asking me "when's your wedding?" "where's the reception?" in fact every question just short of who's the bride! Those who are invited will get their invites soon with the details are showing on the invite. As I've stated from the start, both Yutang and myself do not want a big wedding. Just a casual get together showing off the fact we are finally a married couple.

It's a simple registry wedding with a reception lunch at a nearby restaraunt. To finish off we'll be looking like coming back to our house to celebrate with drinks and food at our house. We'll be flying off to the Gold Coast and staying at Sufers Paradise for our mini Honey Moon. Our major OS trip to China/Japan shall be next year in about April 2006. There'll be a formal ceremony in China to allow Yutang's parents to celebrate the wedding in a traditional matter.

Today I've been busy booking flights, hotel rooms and I haven't even confirmed the wedding date with the registry or booked the reception lunch. But once all the details have been booked and it's 100% official then the invites shall be hoisted out the mail.

We haven't even looked at photographers, flowers or even what to wear! ...and I thought MOVING was a hassle!

Wedding Plans

Just for the curious out there we plan to get married on the 30th June 2005. We are not going to be doing the plate smashing thing. Leave that to the Greeks. It's just going to be a simple ceremony and dinner affair as both Yutang and I agree that we want to keep it simple. But the big event will come next year as we plan on heading to Beijing and then on to Tokyo. Beijing to meet the in laws where I'll be forced to use sign language as both Yutang's parents speak next to no English! Then onto Japan to meet the sister in laws. But till then we'll have to make do with a trip to Melbourne. Sunny Melbourne! Yutang has never been there and I've only spent a week there myself so we will enjoy it despite the expected freezing conditions.

My parents will be down a week before the wedding and we'll be just taking it easy as we have spent alot of money recently with the move and furniture. How many others out there are going through this right now? I know 3 others at work that have a similar scenario. Thinking of buying property. Thinking of having children. Looking at health cover and all the other necessities involved. One things for sure. Yutang can't accuse me of marrying her for her money! LOL
